Burn Care Standards (iBCS) are not intended to be static and unchanging over time
The international Burn Care Standards (iBCS) are not intended to be static and unchanging over time. However there is a clear need for any changes to be carefully considered to ensure there is data consistency. This allows burn services to see how their own performance against the international Burn Care Standards (iBCS) changes over time with repeated assessments, whether these are self assessments are done by external assessors.
The original set of IBCS underwent minimal revision in 2009 and were published in 2010. A full review was undertaken in 2012 and published in early 2013. These are the current iBCS. Copies of each version are available from the Downloads page.
To allow revision of the iBCS a specific software package was developed but is released only to registered Authors. In this way comments and suggestions for change can be made at any time and stored for consideration at the next review.
For further information about this process, or to suggest changes to the iBCS yourself, please make specific requests via the Contact Us menu item.
